Learning from successful knowledge cities: a study trip to Aachen, Eindhoven and Leuven

For a delegation from Vienna, in 2016, UrbanIQ organised a 3-day field trip to Aachen, Eindhoven and Leuven.  The goal was to learn from triple helix collaborations in these three cities. We visited interesting hotspots and organisations, discussed with local leaders how these collaborations work, how they came about, but also what the problems and pitfalls are. Among other things, we visited several innovative campus areas (the new RWTH Campus in Aachen, the HTC in Eindhoven, the Automotive Campus in Helmond), and learned how Leuven’s university so successfully combines science with business.  Based on the insights, we drew some conclusions and recommendations for Vienna. A report of the trip can be found here.
