REDIS is a network of 8 European cities that share the ambition to create a science quarter in their city. We conducted analyses, and guided the inter-city learning process. Also, we wrote papers and reports about trends, developments and lessons learned, and organised a summer school in 2010 in the Danish city of Aarhus. The network started in 2008, and the final conference will be held in Magdeburg, in 2011.
The project covered a number of relevant themes, including branding&marketing, models of university-business co-operation, area management, the integration of science quarters in the urban fabric, dealing with heritage, and connectivity. A key element of the project is to get things done ‘on the ground’ in each city. UrbanIQ assists each city in organizing the policy process, bringing stakeholders together (universities, municipalities, companies, etc.).
